The food
The service in the reception. In the booking it said check in at 14:00, which the first receptionist also told us, so first we waited half an hour since we came a bit early. At 14 a new receptionist then told us it was 15 due to Covid. We were then sent to the pool quite a walk away to find that we had to go back to the receptionist to rent towels. The bathtub in the room was not clean

Misleading advertising, not a 5* hotel, max 3*
Waterpark is nice for kids and the entertainment in the evenings. Private pool was nice.
Extremely crowded at breakfast, lunch and dinner, long waiting lines to enter the restaurant. Out of 3 restaurants advertised, only 1 was open. The a la carte was open only on Friday, fully booked almost 1 week in advance. Food was low quality, dirty dishes, staff was insufficient. It looked like a student cantine, not a 5 star hotel. Actually two hotels are merged, Rethymno Mare and Rethymno Royal, with one restaurant. Drinks at bar were low quality, only open from 5 in the evening. Wifi works in the room only if the tv is on! Remote from any city (15 min by taxy, 15 euro), only one taverna across the street where you can eat. Definitely not worth the money, we paid 600 euro for a room with private pool. Avoid at all costs.

The pool swimming pools were good
restaurant staff are rude especially the manager, cutlery and plates were dirty we were B/B breakfast was under par more like a 3*, the room was nice but very dirty had to chase to get the bedding changed, in the main bed was broken so couldn’t be clean underneath properly, there was discarded rubbish empty cups, cans, and plastic water bottles in the garden area as you walked up to the main pool, paid £5g not Worth it If they get there act to gather it could be a nice hotel.

Not satisfied at all and did not meed expectation's
The hotel was presented as 5 star or 4+ star and maybe it was 15 years ago. The water park was old and the kids got hurt running the slides. Most everything about the food was under all criticism.. The breakfast was not organised at all, lack of several standard items normal for breakfast. Some not tasty at all and the juice was not juice but soda without carbonation. Melons and other fresh fruits ran out. Bread was not fresh.. Both lunches and dinners were messy and chaotic. There was only a buffet and most of it didn't taste good. There was no à la carte menu but only a buffet all evenings, no variety on the buffet.. Went away for both lunch and dinner most at least half time.
